Applying Car Stickers for a Smooth, Professional Finish

Car modification is considered a branch of art that requires knowledge in various fields—both science and art—to produce a masterpiece that perfectly reflects the story and identity of the owner. Similarly, decorating your car with stickers creates a unique identity that makes your car look cool and one-of-a-kind. Today, the Lenso team brings you easy techniques to apply stickers smoothly and beautifully like a pro, without needing to rely on a mechanic.

  • Step 1: Peel the clear transfer tape and the sticker off the backing paper.

  • Step 2: Spray a mixture of water and dishwashing liquid (or car shampoo) evenly over the clear tape.

  • Step 3: Apply the sticker to the car body and slide it around until it is in the exact desired position.

  • Step 4: Place a piece of cardboard underneath and use a hard card (like a credit card) to squeegee the water out from the sticker. Start from the center and push outwards to the left and right. Be careful not to leave any air bubbles. Leave it to sit for about 30 minutes.

  • Step 5: Carefully peel the clear tape off the sticker, then leave it for another 2-3 hours until the sticker is completely dry. You are all set!

Now, onto how to remove stickers. First, you should know that removing car stickers carries a risk of damaging the car's surface, so extreme caution must be exercised.

Easily Remove Stickers with a Hair Dryer For stickers that have been applied for a long time or are large in size, they can be difficult to peel off. You should use a hair dryer to gently blow hot air over them. The heat will soften the material, making the sticker much easier to peel off.

Removing Sticky Adhesive Residue with Special Helpers After peeling off the sticker, a sticky adhesive residue will often remain. Spray a multi-purpose lubricant (like WD-40) generously onto the residue. Leave it for a moment, then use a clean cloth to gently wipe it off until all the residue is gone.

Besides multi-purpose lubricants, you can also use all-purpose cleaning creams, turpentine, lighter fluid, vegetable oil, or olive oil to wipe off the glue stains. After all the adhesive has been wiped off, wash the area immediately with car wash shampoo.

Caution! Thinner or gasoline is strictly not suitable for clear-coated paint surfaces, as it will cause the car's paint to discolor or peel.
